The Division works closely with Ministries and Departments to translate policy into law.

This arm of the Office of the Attorney General also renders legal opinions on matters requiring statutory interpretation; interfaces closely with the Houses of Parliament; and ensures timely publication of new laws in the Government Gazette.

Ms. Baker has over 13 years of experience as a Legislative Drafter with the Attorney
General’s Chambers and has a distinguished career as an enthusiastic and devoted
member of the legal profession.

She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of London, a Post Graduate Certificate in Legal Practice at the Bar from Manchester Metropolitan University, a Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Legislative Drafting from Athabasca University and a Master of Laws degree with concentration in Legislative Studies from the University of Ottawa.

She is also a member of The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn and was called to the Bar in England and Wales.

Attorney General and Minister for Legal Affairs, Senator the Honourable Claudette
Joseph said β€œI am confident that Ms. Baker will ably lead the impressive and progressive legislative agenda of Government.

As we rebuild and reorder the legal function of government, we are thrilled to have a daughter of the soil fill this critical position, that was last filled in 2011”.

Ms. Baker has participated and represented Grenada in numerous regional and
international legislative drafting conferences, meetings, and workshops.

She was also part of a contingent from Grenada that participated in training provided by LexisNexis in the United Kingdom, and participated in law revision and consolidation training in Anguilla.

The Ministry takes this opportunity to wish Ms. Baker all the best in her elevated position as Chief Parliamentary Counsel.
