After having a somewhat low-keyed positivity rate of COVID-19 on island for the past weeks, Grenada yesterday recorded 12 new confirmed cases, out of 359 tests that were conducted.
This causes raised eye brows.
The COVID update from the Ministry of Health shows there are now 2 persons currently being hospitalized.
There are no deaths.
The 12 new positive cases, the Ministry says, bring the total cumulative confirmed cases since the virus was first identified here in March last year to 5,933 with cumulative recoveries at 5, 679.
Over the reporting period, there was no new recovery.
Looking at the COVID vaccination programme, the update continues to show diminishing numbers taking the second dose. An additional 53 persons received the second jab yesterday, bringing the number to 35,457.
The partially vaccinated population is 5,830.
1,732 booster doses have already been administered.
