On Friday 21st March, 2025, officers attached to Drug Squad and Grenada Customs & Excise Division carried out a joint operation at the St. George’s Port, located on Port Highway, Tanteen, St. George. During the search, authorities uncovered a 𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐲-𝐬𝐢𝐱 (𝟐𝟔) 𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐬 concealed within a barrel.
The cannabis weighed a total of 𝟔.𝟖𝟑 𝐩𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬 with an estimated street value of sixty-one Thousand, four Hundred and seventy Eastern Caribbean Dollars (𝐄𝐂$ 𝟔𝟏,𝟒𝟕𝟎.𝟎𝟎).
As a result, James Clarkson, a 56-year-old auto body repairman residing at Café St. George, was 𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐃𝐫𝐮𝐠.
Mr. Clarkson appeared before 𝐒𝐭. 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞’𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞’𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝟐𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, where he was granted bail in the sum of fifty thousand dollars (𝐄𝐂$ 𝟓𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎.𝟎𝟎) with two sureties. As part of the bail conditions, Mr. Clarkson is required to surrender all travel documents, seek permission from the court to travel outside the state of Grenada, and report to South St. George Police Station every 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝟔:𝟎𝟎 𝐚.𝐦. 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟔:𝟎𝟎 𝐩.𝐦.
