Carriacou Carnival, Or “Kayak Mas,” as it’s known, is reportedly in full swing, with the reign of the “Merry Mpnarchs, considering the winners in the various categories of competition, Soca, Groovy, Calypso, and the Queen show, all basking in glory.
This morning, revellers were on the streets of Hillsborough participating in J’ouvert activities.
Friday night a new groovy monarch was crowned, Leyron Joseph ‘2 Blaxx’ ran away with the title with his rendition “Too Wicked”.
Taking second spot was Kevon Dick ‘Menti’ with his rendition long time.
Brendon Mc Kie ‘Killa B’ with his rendition “motivation” gave him the third spot.
And the 2024 Power Soca Monarch winner was Dante Sylvester ‘Playboy HTD’ with his performance of “Doomsday”.
Brendon Mc Kie ‘Killa B’ placed second with his song “Dead dog” and Josh Phillip ‘Silver Bullet’ placed third with his song “Raging Bull”.
In the Calypso arena, Nashanda Charles “Shanda” took the title last night with 272 points.
She was followed by Brendon McKie “Killa B” on 260 and Zerina Bedeau ‘Lady B’ the defending Calypso Queen was third.
Tonight, one of the features of the carnival festival will be Monday Night Mas on the streets of Hillsborough.
