It’s all with the aim of reducing the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems.

“Kidney Health for Everyone Everywhere” is what guided today’s exercise.

Here in Grenada, according to the Vice President of the Grenada National Patient Kidney Foundation, Patricia Bruno, there’s the idea of utilizing various media platforms creating awareness on kidney disease and prevention.

The Foundation seeks to highlight the importance of the organs in one’s body, being one of the most vital parts, which purify the blood by excreting toxins and wastes.

The campaign, which the Foundation hopes will continue, apart from today, is geared at educating the populace on how to maintain a healthy kidney, with pertinent advice, so as to avoid risks of developing kidney disease, for which treatment in Grenada and other small island states can be very costly.

Today’s campaign took health educators in the region of outlining preventive behaviors, risk factors, and, if it’s the case, how to live with a kidney disease.

The notion of eating a healthy diet came into focus very often and very important in keeping organs of the body healthy.

Several foods are easily available and crucial for intake.

The general view is that people need to consume lots of water and engage in physical exercise and concentrate their diet on rich insoluble fibre, fruits and green leafy vegetables.

The inclusion of such foods in one’s diet acts as a preventative measure, especially for avoiding the contraction of kidney disease.
