Education minister, Emmalin Pierre, has outlined that the 1st of November is set tentatively as the date for the reopening of the Nation’s schools in a phased approach.
Speaking at the Government’s regular weekly Post Cabinet Briefing this morning, she noted that the decision by Grenada Cabinet weighed the pros and cons concerning the education system and drawbacks particularly with the country’s COVID situation.
She made the point of several factors being reviewed, especially as it concerns issues with online learning at the time and the fact that there are cases where students encounter problems with connectivity infrastructure and the issue of vulnerabilities, among others.
She did state that there have been consultation with several stakeholders in view of moving forward with a very strategic approach, the Education Advisory Council, Boards of management of denominational schools, the Grenada Union of Teachers, Principals of public and private schools, parents and students.

She did say however, that students are showing an eagerness to move forward and the period of November 1 to 12 will be a testing period for a strategic phased approach, as they seek to reopen the Nation’s schools.

Private schools are to submit an electronic application seeking approval for resumption, according to the Education Minister.
