Minister for Mobilisation, Implementation and Transformation Hon. Andy Williams attended the Grenfin Invitational Swim Meet and OECS Qualifier, to witness the selection of Grenada’s National Swim Team for next month’s OECS Swimming Championship.
The event took place at the Good Hope Swimming Pool in St. Pauls over the weekend.
Minister Williams was highly commended for his intervention in securing much-needed assistance for immediate restoration work at the pool, following the recent passing of the tropical system where the facility sustained extensive damage.
Also attending the event was Minister for Youth, Sports, and Culture Hon. Ron Redhead. He pledged government’s commitment to the construction of a state-of-the-art Aquatic Centre to aid the development of Grenada’s swimmers.
The 30th Annual OECS Invitational Swimming Championship will be held at the Rodney Heights Aquatic Centre, Rodney Bay, St. Lucia from November 11 – 13, 2022, after a two-year break from the regional event due to COVID-19.
