New Hospitality Stars Ready To Make Their Mark

Six young hospitality newcomers have a broader perspective of global hospitality standards as exemplified by the Luxury All Included® Sandals Resorts International’s, Sandals Grenada Resort. After an intensive ten-week introduction to Restaurant Service, Engineering Operations, Laundry Operations, and Housekeeping Operations, the youngsters are now better equipped to enter the industry and continue their education.

For 20 year old Deaniel Jerome from St. George’s, her training in Dining Service in the Food & Beverage department tested her customer service and communication skills; “This was my first time ever working.  I had no experience or knowledge of Food & Beverage and I am a generally quiet person. So at first, getting on to the floor with my trainer was very challenging but I have ‘come out of my shell’ and I got better at interacting with guests and learning the rules and standards of delivering Dining Service. Thank you to the team who embraced me but didn’t let me have it too easy either.”

Fortunately for Jerome and some of her colleagues, this learning and development opportunity inspired them to applying to the resort for jobs, for which they were successful.

Another enthusiastic newcomer is Jamonda Jones,   a new recruit and member of the Dining Room team said, “My experience here at Sandals has been awesome! The staff here is amazing and I especially want to the thank the Human Resources team for allowing me the opportunity to be part of the Hospitality Training  Programme (HTP) and the Dining Room team for all their guidance. I look forward to being a part of the continued success of Sandals Grenada.”

In celebrating these candidates, Human Resource Manager, Maxine Pierre expressed, “Congratulations to you! That certificate of completion means that you have done it.  You are now ‘Sandalised’ and endorsed and recommended by Sandals Grenada Resort. I look forward to seeing your growth with us or wherever your path leads you.”

Similarly,  Hotel Manager, Stuart Jones encouraged the youngsters to keep progressing, “The knowledge which you have acquired throughout this programme is yours, no one can take it away from you. It positions you with an advantage within the industry, so take it as far as you can. A lot of people in the organization started in this programme and have climbed the hierarchy thereafter. It’s a developmental experience we are proud of and will continue investing in.”

The next group for the Hospitality Training Programme (HTP) will begin later in January 2023. Interested candidates aged 18- 30 can apply via email to recruitsls@grp.sandals.com with the subject Application for HTP.
