Over the 37-year period in the aftermath of the downfall of the revolution, the Nation’s cultural artistes have produced many songs about the ordeal.
Apart from political and economic development discussions, the calypsonians with positive development-building lyrics would always rend to throw in a line or verse reflecting on some aspect of the revolution that was forward thinking.
And there are artistes who just can’t get the turmoil out of their system.
One of the songs that was vividly heard playing on a number of radio stations today, with the country in reflection mode, was sung by Daniel Sealey, calypsonian name “Scorpion”.
The name of the song “the Plain Truth” was produced for the Dimanche Gras carnival stage in 1994 depicting the events that unfolded on this day, 37 years ago, painting a picture of what turned out to be a dreaded day.
At the Fort currently, the audience in attendance are reflecting on that fateful day, that killed key members of the revolutionary Government, as well as civilians and injured several people. That day signalled the end of the revolutionary period.
In memory of those who lost their lives there were prayer and solemn songs.
