The Grenada Tourism Authority GTA has named a new Chief Executive Officer. The GTA Chairman, Barry Collymore, today made the announcement that it has appointed Petra Roach to the post. Collymore says as Grenada prepare to re-open the tourism industry International Marketing will be the way forward and Roach has a wealth of experience in that area. Roach succeeds former CEO Patricia Maher.
She’s been a longstanding employee of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc., and most notably served as vice president in the UK office for 12 years and recently as the director for the US.
Meantime, Collymore is optimistic of a decision soon as it relates to Grenada’s tourism operations, while at the same time, looking at the progression of COVID-19.
Collymore believes vaccination is one way of getting across tourism hurdles. He made the point during a News Conference today, called by the GTA. Collymore says Grenada has an advantage since it has managed the COVID-19 situation exceptionally well.
Well, what we do understand that a batch of some 24,000 Astrazeneca vaccines are due in Grenada today, as the Ministry of Health seeks to ramp up the vaccination programme, on the understanding that the more people who are vaccinated, the quicker the country can arrive at “herd immunity” and a better chance of returning to normalcy, without much hindrances.
