The campaign to achieve herd immunity against the COVID- 19 virus continues here in Grenada.
This, as health officials reveal statistics that more than 13, 600 people have received their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine, while 5, 446 have so far received both doses.
Grenadians who received their second dose of the vaccine are appealing to other individuals to get vaccinated, to not only protect themselves, but also others.
One individual, Jamie Campbell, in an interview with the Government Information Service, said young people are not willing to take the vaccine and that has a lot to do with misinformation.
Another individual, Dr. Spencer Thomas, believes what’s needed is a serious media campaign to get the youthful population onboard with the vaccination drive.
There’s currently one active COVID-19 case on the island.
This has been the situation over the past few weeks.
The total confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded to date still stands at 161.
Off that number, eighty-three are said to be imported.
There’s been 1 death and 159 recoveries.
In the latest statistics, some 387 individuals are in quarantine facilities.
As it relates to RT-PCR Tests, the Ministry of Health says
28, 568 have been conducted.
Vaccination continues at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium and health centers across the country.
