The Association Of Caribbean Mediaworkers (ACM) Is Greatly Concerned About The Impasse Between Workers At The Grenada Broadcasting Network (GBN) And Its General Manager, Odette Campbell.
We Are Hopeful That The Workers And Their Representatives Will Be Able To Satisfactorily Resolve This Issue Over The Negotiating Table With The Company. We Encourage All Concerned To Move Swiftly Toward Bringing This Vexing Issue To An End.
The Acm Is However Very Concerned About Reports That News Staff Have Been Prevented From Reporting On The Impasse And Subsequent Industrial Action.
Any Attempt To Prevent Journalists From Reporting On This Or Any Other Industrial Action Constitutes An Attack On Press Freedom And Should Be Condemned. We Call On The Owners And Management To Allow The News Team To Function In A Manner That Embraces The Tenets Of A Free Press And Freedom Of Expression.
The Acm Will Continue To Monitor In The Situation And We Remain Hopeful That That All Parties Can Arrive At An Amicable Solution.
