With a clarion call for public cooperation, Grenada’s Acting Director of Medical Services, Dr. Tyiesha Donald, today called for an end to the number of prank calls being made to the Accident and Emergency Department of the General Hospital.

Responding to a question by one of the media practitioners as it relates to the notable challenges due to staff shortage and such practice, Dr. Donald says they’re affecting the level of health care to be provided to citizens.

She firmly made an appeal to the public to desist from such practice, one she deems as “very unfortunate”.

Under Grenada’s Electronic Crimes Act, it’s a criminal offense to make prank calls to law enforcement and emergency services to give false and misleading information.

The Act makes provision for a person convicted on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding 5,000 dollars or to a term of imprisonment not exceeding six months or both.
