The Government Minister, under whose portfolio Hospital Services falls, Delma Thomas, says proper health care starts with a pleasant environment.

She made the statement on account of painting work conducted on the week-end at the General Hospital.

Report:

It’s the second such engagement at the hospital in which Minister Thomas has been spearheading a drive to make the facility more pleasing to the eye. She had recently encouraged a spirited group of individuals in a cleaning exercise at the hospital, for which she received much public support.

Thomas took it a bit further on the week-end, where several volunteers came together and started painting the hospital quarters, the administrative building first.

This is being made possible with support from M and N Hardware, soliciting help from members of the commercial community as well as individual, groups and organizations, at home and abroad, to take on the task.

M and N Hardware also played a major role in coordinating the clean up, providing all the cleaning and disinfecting products and now, it’s assisting with the painting initiative, requested by the hospital’s management.

Donations have been solicited so as to purchase paint and other materials to be used by the volunteers, most of whom are employed in the construction sector.

One source says payment for the paint, from one gallon upwards, can be made directly to Sissons Paint towards the Account “Hospital Clean Up Drive”, for the beautification of the General Hospital.

The exercise continues next week-end.

The Hospital Services Minister says she’s overwhelmed by the response and is desirous of taking the initiative to out-parish medical stations, since the environment as the first point of contact plays a great part in caring for health. Petra Louison, Wee FM News.
