Meantime, agriculture representative, Roderick St. Clair, is recommending that the Government invoke a clear long-term food security strategy where the Nation’s graduate agriculturalists can player a greater role over time.
St. Clair was making the point during debate on the 2021 Budget.
According to him, several of the brains that have been guiding the process have exited the arena and have not been replaced, at a time when the thrust towards food security needs such involvement.
Thinking that the age-old traditional farmer population will be exhausted and retire someday, St. Clair advises that now is time to act on the replacement agenda.
