Now that the semi-Final rounds of the carnival song competitions have ended, artistes making it to the big stage have already begun fast tracking their preparation for the grand finale.
Coming out of the Melody Papittete Calypso competition last evening, the qualifiers for the Calypso final have been released.
We have Jerry Baptiste “Papa Jerry”, Kelly Clyne “Rootsman Kelly”, Randolph Issac “Randy Isaac”, Jason Joseph “Big J” Glendon Joseph “I am G”, Carlos Lewis “Pecos”, Valene Nedd “Valene ”, Sean Niles “Sour Serpent”, Michael Prince “Prince” and Jermaine Simon “Superstar”.
They will be coming up against the reigning Calypso Monarch Finley Jeffrey “Scholar”.
The Calypso Finals will be held at Progress Park in St. Andrew on August 10.
Meanwhile, Bacchanal Friday will be held at the National Stadium on August 11 with the Soca and Groovy monarch finals.
Those making it in the groovy segment are:- Dash, Terror D Governor, Lil Jelo, Super Flying Flint, Runi Jay, Valene, Blaka Dan, Luni Spark and Electrify, Boyzie, Mr. Walkie, and Mr. Gold’n.
They’ll come up against the reigning Groovy Monarch, Rashid Julien “Crayve”.
Those qualifying for the soca competition are- Dash, Robolous, Tallpree, Muddy, Shamak, Lil Jelo, Squeeze head, Luni Sparks & Electrify, Boyzie, Mr. Walkie, and Hitz.
And, they’ll be coming up against the reigning Power Soca Monarch, Shem Bernard “Terror D Governor”.

Singing since 16 years ago, Robulous is into the final of the Soca Monarch competition for the first time.
Robolous believes his time has come since he’s been knocking at the door for quite some time.
Robolous indicated that most of the sentiments expressed in his rendition hinge on the problem of praedial larceny.
