Asher McIntyre who was fatally knocked down on the Maurice Bishop Highway on March 6 was laid to rest today.

It was a rather solemn atmosphere at Gateway Assemblies Pentecostal Church, punctuated with songs of worship.

The father of Asher McIntyre, retired Superintendent Sylvan McIntyre, says his son’s death sends a very strong message, especially as it concerns citizens who want to boost the physical aspect of their health.

On the basis of the frustration that was endured, McIntyre says the penal and judicial system needs to be addressed.

He says justice delayed is justice denied and that justice must not only be administered and delivered but it must also appear to be delivered.

Sylvan McIntyre says he sees his son as a sacrificial lamb that will bring the required benefits for the sake of road safety and appropriate transformative measures.

The man charged with the death of Asher McIntyre appeared in court last Friday for the first time and is down to re-appear in court on July 18, 2023.

He’s been granted bail to the tune of forty thousand dollars, with two sureties.

Cosmo Hosten was arrested and charged for the offence of causing death by dangerous driving.
