Speaking about industrial agreements: The Bank and General Workers Union (BGWU) is calling on the management of Blue Danube Bakery to honor its commitment by paying severance pay and other outstanding benefits to its workers.

This, the BGWU says follows the Company’s decision to lease the Bakery late last year to another investor.

Mentioning that some workers have given in excess of forty years service to the Company, the Union views the situation as one of great concern.

The Union is saying workers’ service have been turned over to the successor employer without being compensated, in accordance with their Collective Industrial Agreement.

The BGWU is complaining that attempts to solicit a meeting with the company to discuss the matter have proven futile.

And, that such long, unnecessary and evasive delays by the company is negatively affecting the lives of the workers and their families.

The BGWU says it’s calling on the Company to act promptly to avoid an escalation of industrial action.
