One powerhouse leader in the region, the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, says the people of Ukraine have their rights to self-determination.
She was speaking from a regional perspective on the matter yesterday, addressing NNP delegates at their 2022 Convention here.
Her message was promulgated outlining circumstances pertaining to regionalism and the future of the Caribbean.
Mottley is suggesting that the Caribbean people must be able to speak with one voice for a future that resembles Caribbeanism, because for too long it’s been bogged down by imperialism.
Looking at the many global issues of climate change, economic instability and the COVID pandemic among other, Mottley focused on the fact that the region in stepping into the future must depend heavily on the political paradigm of “functional cooperation”.
