Ugly traffic scenes along the southern corridor were the order of the morning’s rush hour when drivers took their buses off the route, protesting against what they call a “rotten transportation system”.
Their strike action came like shock treatment to commuters.
The Acting Vice President of the Grand Anse Bus Association, who didn’t disclose his name, says they’re not happy with the system, which is unfair to their operations.
Pointing fingers in the direction of Magistrate Jerry Seales, the Grand Anse busmen say for some time, they have been complaining about receiving harsh treatment in the court for traffic offences.
Among the issues in the strike action this morning, several of the placards were recommending the removal of Seales.
They termed the judgement in the court for traffic offences “draconian”.
Wee FM on the scene this morning noted that the busmen’s action catapulted the morning rush hour in the Grand Anse and terminal areas.
They subsequently took to Camerhogne Park venting their frustration, waving placards and chanting slogans.
They’re calling for regulation of bus stickers; better terminal facilities; more bus stops and adjustments to traffic laws.
Wee Fm also understands that several other buses will be joining in protest action, tomorrow Wednesday,
