A call has been made for the business community to get involved with the National Celebrations Committee (NCC), as preparations are underway for the hosting of activities to observe Grenada’s 48th Independence anniversary.

The call comes from Culture Minister Yolande Bain-Horsford who was speaking at the Independence official launch yesterday.

Minister Bain Horsford says the business community should come on board in the beautification of buildings and neighborhoods to demonstrate their patriotism.

“Overcoming our adversity, safeguarding livelihoods, protecting our future”, will be this year’s theme.

During the launch the Culture Minister says 48 years brings the island on the brink of half a century of Independence.

Looking at the impact of the pandemic, Minister Bain-Horsford says, this year’s celebration will be scaled-down as the safety of the nation takes priority.

Meanwhile the activities will begin in Carriacou with an independent radio quiz for primary and secondary school students from January 17th to the 22nd.

The lists of activities also include the inter-ministerial display and national colors day on Friday February 4.

Chairman of the National Celebrations Committee John Williams highlighted some of the main activities leading up to February 7th.
