The Three-Day Camerhogne Folk Festival in St. Patrick kicks off tomorrow, with organizers anticipating a bumper affair.

On display will be arts and craft, cuisine and cultural talent, including folklore.

The spirit of the festival is said to be the work of a local committee, working in conjunction with the Division of Culture.

When it was officially launched on the 30th of September, it was noted that the government is investing more than one hundred thousand dollars in the festival.

Culture Minister, Ron Redhead, said it’s all meant to return cultural life in the parish, while boosting economic activity; a deliberate investment to harness the cultural potential of St. Patrick.

He urged the people of the parish to “embrace the activity, support the community and invest in the cultural development of both the East and West of St. Patrick.

With efforts to shore-up St. Patrick as the cultural capital of Grenada, plans are said to be in the pipeline to provide the necessary facilities to preserve what the parish is best known for and that land is presently being sought to erect a multipurpose cultural centre for the parish.

The festival which was inaugurated in 2010 was last held in 2011.
