The high commission of Canada announces the contribution of 82,620 Canadian dollars to two Grenadian organizations — the Grenada Planned Parenthood Association and GrenCHAP Inc. — through the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives
For new projects that will strengthen sexual and gender-based violence services (SGBV) in Grenada, and increase public awareness of human rights through community outreach.
Canada awarded 49,905 dollars to the Grenada Planned Parenthood Association to pilot a one-stop centre for SGBV survivors in Grenada.
The project provides a safe space for persons who have experienced SGBV to access client-centred medical and social services.
Funding will support the training of GPPA clinical staff and hospital healthcare providers in survivor-focused care, as well as the upgrading of facilities at the designated centre.
32,715 Canadian dollars is awarded to GrenCHAP Inc. for the delivery of a training programme and
communications campaign aimed at building awareness around human rights and SGBV in Grenada.
GrenCHAP Inc. will provide training to 15 community mobilizers on Grenada’s Domestic Violence Act 2010, the International Bill of Human Rights, and social and emotional learning for the delivery of 14 community forums across Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives is a programme designed to support small-scale, high-impact projects in developing countries that align with the Government of Canada’s thematic priority areas for engagement.
