Canadian Bank Note reaches out to Grenada

The Government and People of Grenada through the Ministry of Health were on Tuesday the recipients of two PCR machines that would aid in the fight against the COVID-19 threat and help in the overall improvement of the health services on the island.

The package, which also included fifteen hundred test kits and fifteen hundred swabs, was made possible through the Canadian Bank Note (CBN) and handed over to Health Minister Nickolas Steele by Vice President of CBN, Simon Wall during a short ceremony at the new wing of the General Hospital.

Accepting the gift on Grenada’s behalf Minister Steele dubbed the occasion a proud one for Grenada, and coming at a time when Grenada is enjoying tremendous success in the fight against COVID-19.

Minister Steele expressed thanks to CBN for delivering on their promise and for being a special friend to Grenada.

Also addressing the small gathering was Minister for Sports, Senator Norland Cox who, like Minister Steele, commended CBN for once again reaching out to Grenada in their time of need and just about any time they are called upon to help. He conveyed Grenada’s appreciation to CBN for yet another gift and show of friendship to the Grenadian people.

In making the presentation, CBN Vice President Wall who has been trapped in Grenada since the COVID-19 lockdown said he is delighted to be of help to the people of Grenada.

Wall commended Grenada for its excellent work thus far in the fight against COVID 19. He noted that while not many countries around the world can boast of having an A grade in this regard Grenada can hold its head high.

CBN has been around since 1897, operating in 72 countries around the world, Grenada he said has a special place in their heart hence the special gets special treatment.

Since the commencement of the COVID-19 Pandemic Wall said, Grenada has received some five hundred thousand dollars’ worth of equipment. Included are two ambulances one of which is now operating on the Sister Isles of Carriacou.

Also present at Tuesday’s handing over ceremony was Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. Peter David, Chief Medical Officer Dr Francis Martin and other members of the medical fraternity and Ministry of Health.
