Grenada is getting a step closer to election 2022! and after major political meetings over the weekend, candidates are getting ready for Nomination Day Wednesday.

The Supervisor of Elections has sent out a reminder to all potential candidates of the qualifying criteria, in order to be on the ballot come Election.

REPORT:

All nomination documents are to be delivered on Nomination Day between the hours of 9 in the morning and 12 noon…all in accordance with applicable law.

Candidates must be nominated in writing by no less than six registered electors of the constituency for which he/she seeks election and they must consent in writing to such nomination.

Candidates or someone acting on their behalf shall at the time of nomination deliver to the Returning Officer a statutory declaration of their qualification.

Every candidate or someone on his or her behalf shall at the time of his or her nomination provide, or cause to be provided to the Returning Officer an ORIGINAL receipt from the treasury or revenue office as the case may be.

It must show evidence of payment by the candidate of the nomination deposit of five hundred dollars in cash.

Failing this, the nomination of such candidate shall be deemed void.

All relevant nomination materials can be obtained at respective constituency offices.

The Supervisor of Elections is extending appreciation to the general public for their cooperation in pursuit of enhancing the democratic process.
