The National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA) is preparing for the staging of Caribewave 2021 carded for the 11th of next month.

The 2021 exercise is said to be giving Grenada what’s seen as a unique opportunity to test, not just the country’s response to TSUNAMIS, but also to test its preparedness level, operating in what it speaks of as a “multi- hazardous environment”.

NaDMA’s Public Relations Officer, Oslyn Crosby, says the exercise will provide an opportunity for the agency to test its tsunami response procedures and promote tsunami preparedness throughout the island.

Crosby also says the risk of occurrence may seem low in comparison to other hazards; the Tsunami risk in the region is real and should be taken seriously.

Individuals are reminded that all COVID protocols outlined by the Ministry of Health will be enforced and are encouraged to register for the exercise via Tsunamizone.org.
