A regional vaccination campaign will be launched to tackle the issue of vaccine hesitancy in the Caribbean region.

The decision was taken at the Thirty-Third Inter-Sessional Meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government in Belize.

Vaccine hesitancy is preventing regional governments from achieving herd immunity against COVID-19.

At the conclusion of the two day meeting CARICOM chairman John Briceno, says the time has come for the CARICOM community to do more to increase its vaccination rate.

The regional campaign will include implementing the education and promotional measures needed, to intensify the rate at which citizens are accepting the vaccines in each member country.
