The Caribbean Community congratulates Grenada on its Forty-Eighth Anniversary of Independence, noting the countryโs resolute movement along the path to development.
CARICOM Secretary-General, Dr. Carla Barnett, in a congratulatory message to Grenadaโs Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell, commended the countryโs significant contribution to promoting regional integration.
She says there is much for the Government and People of Grenada to be proud of since achieving independence forty-eight years ago and that Grenadaโs contribution globally in academia, sports, culture and diplomacy is well documented.
The theme chosen for this yearโs festivities, โOvercoming our Adversity-Safeguarding Livelihoods-Protecting our Futureโ speaks to the firm determination of all Grenadians to play an active role in the continued development and prosperity of the country.
Dr. Barnett says the Caribbean Community welcomes Grenadaโs steadfast leadership on Science and Technology (including Information and Communications), for which Dr. Mitchell has portfolio responsibilities in the Quasi-Cabinet of the CARICOM Conference of Heads of Government.
