Following the recent upheaval in the French-speaking Caribbean territory of Haiti, Bishop of the Diocese of St. George’s in Grenada, Clyde Martin Harvey, urges the region to render support.

In view of the circumstances surrounding the assassination of President Jovenel Moise, Bishop Harvey called for God’s mercy for the Government and people of the impoverished Caribbean country.
News of President Moise assassination reportedly stunned regional and international communities, with a number of Leaders extending their condolences.

Meantime, information circulating shows that a group of 28 foreign mercenaries, including retired Colombian soldiers, assassinated the Haitian President.
After a gun battle in the capital Port-au-Prince yesterday, 17 of them were detained.
Three suspects were killed by police and eight other are said to be still at large.
The Colombian government has confirmed that at least six of the suspects appeared to be retired members of its military.
It has pledged to assist Haiti with its investigation efforts.
One of two dual citizens caught up in the process noted that they were translators for the mercenaries, after finding the job on the internet.
The US said today that it was sending FBI and department of homeland security officials to Haiti, following the nation’s request for help in the investigation.
