Word From The Central Statistical Office of the Ministry of Finance is that Grenada’s Population and Housing Census has begun.

In the first instance, officers are visiting communities in St. Mark, St. John, St. Andrew and parts of St. George and teams will be dispatched to other parishes in the coming days and weeks.

There been what is said to be a high dropout rate of trained interviewers in Carriacou and Petite Martinique, however, the Statistical Office says a new batch of persons is being trained and they’ll be visiting the remaining parishes.

A date for the start of enumeration in Carriacou and Petite Martinique is to be given soon.

Residents have the option to conduct their census interview via telephone, being the mode adopted in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, a field officer must visit their home to acquire the correct contact information for doing so, as well as other basic information about the household.

As it relates to face-to-face interviews with enumerators, the COVID protocols are in effect.
