CFCS AND CAEPNET JOINT CONFERENCE RECENTLY HELD IN GRENADA HAILED A SUCCESS

Over 100 individuals including local extension staff, farmers, regional extension officers, and researchers recently participated in a week-long conference in Grenada.

The joint conference put on by the Caribbean Agricultural Extension Providers’ Network (CAEPNet) and the 56th Annual Meeting of the Caribbean Food Crops Society (CFCS) ran from July 10 to 14.

Several regional academics and industry players participated in the activities.

It featured days of academic presentations from over 30 countries, a farmers’ forum, an award ceremony and an agricultural and historical field trip.

Acknowledging the importance of science and technology for the growth and resilience of the agricultural industry, Minister for Agriculture and Lands, Fisheries and Cooperatives-Hon. Lennox Andrew, recognized the contributions of the joint meeting.

Participants indicated that the experience here in Grenada was good for networking and learning.

The meeting, was held at the Grenada Trade Centre under the theme,” Increasing the Resiliency of the Food Systems by Linking and Modernizing Agricultural and Extension Research.
