The issue of sexual harassment within the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) was one of the topical issues at the RGPF’s News Conference today, which Commissioner of Police, Edvin Martin, says will be dealt with in an “appropriate manner”.
The hierarchy of the force yesterday held a closed door session with all Women Police Officers and Female Staff Members on the matter, with the aim of charting the way forward.
Sexual harassment involves the use of explicit or implicit sexual overtones, including the unwelcome and inappropriate promises of rewards in exchange for sexual favors.
It also includes actions ranging from verbal transgressions to sexual abuse or assault.
Commissioner Martin says the RGPF has a zero-tolerance policy for such occurrences.
Commissioner Martin brought to the attention of the media and the public an ongoing investigation involving a Police Constable and a minor.
