COMPLAINTS OF THE SLOW PACE AT WHICH CONTAINERS ARE BEING STRIPPED AT THE PORT FOR CHRISTMAS

With the Christmas holidays fast-approaching and Grenadians preparing to have a bumper time, things don’t seem to be going in the right direction for some, who are finding it difficult in receiving cargo from abroad.

We have been receiving complaints of a rather snail-pace attitude with the stripping of containers on the Port which entails commercial and other cargo.

The Manager of Tropical Shipping, Cheney Joseph, believes it’s as a result of an increased amount of cargo for the Christmas.

He’s, however, hoping that things could be speeded up, since it’s a bit frustrating, especially with people being eager to get their goods.

Joseph is suggesting that the Port should apply a greater extension of its operations.

It’s our understanding that as of Tuesday this week, the Port, extended its hours up to 5pm in the afternoon and that will run until tomorrow.

This is according to a release which was dispatched in this regard.

Joseph says numerous attempts have been made for things to be speeded up, but the situation is yet to be effectively
