The Constitution Reform Referendum for October 27 is put on hold for the while and a one month extension is afforded the Nation for more education on the amendment Bills.
This is according to Attorney General, Cadjeton Hood. He was this afternoon addressing members of the media on the proposed change.
Hood says there’s been a clear upsurge in the interest about the referendum.
He also explained that the rights and freedoms bill has sparked great debate.
Hood says that the Government sees the decision as one that is in the National interest.
During debate on the Constitution Reform Referendum and the Bills put forward to the electorate, there’s been the call in some circles for more time for the education process. However, one Attorney shifted the conversation to point out that legal issues could emerge considering the time calculation for the date for the vote.
