Covid-19 Cancellation Of Carnival August Celebrations Bill

When members of the Grenada House of Representatives meet today, the COVID-19 Cancellation of Carnival August Celebrations Bill will be among major talking points.

It’s one of three pieces of legislation that will be discussed at today’s sitting.

The others two involves the Police amendment Bill and the Road Traffic Amendment Bill.

The Cancellation of Carnival August Celebrations Bill will this year seek to cancel the Bank Holidays, usually associated with the festivity.

August 9 and 10 will be normal working days.

The Bill stipulates that the 9th day of August, 2021 and from noon on the 10th day of August, 2021, shall not be Bank Holidays for the purposes of the Bank Holidays Act.

It’s the second year running that Grenada’s festivities have been cancelled on account of the country’s trust in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
