The agriculture sector is being confronted with a new kind of insect disease, affecting flower plants.

And, agriculture officials say they are battling to put what they term “the Croton Scales Disease” under control.

In the meantime, flower growers throughout the island will be waiting a little longer before purchasing their new plants especially at the Ashenden Propagation Station, as the Croton Scale insects have infested the area.

The insects’ infestation has contaminated a number of plants which has the authority battling to get it under control.

In an interview with Wee Fm News Desk, Pest Control Officer, Thaddeus Peters, said within the past few months the pest has been presenting itself in a number of villages throughout the country.
