Education Ministers across the region have given unanimous approval for the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) to conduct its 2021 sitting, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, which has inconvenienced some schools for months.
It’s been announced that this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) will take place in the traditional face to face format from June 14 to 16th July.
Grenada’s Education Minister, Emmalin Pierre, made the announcement at a sitting of the House of Representatives today.
The Education Minister further stated that unlike last year, those examinations would be administered in their original format.
CXC Registrar, Dr. Wayne Wesley, says the decisions were made with consensus from all relevant stakeholders with the intention of giving students the best opportunity to succeed, under the current circumstances.
As we heard earlier, Papers one, two and three of the examinations will be conducted in their original format and results will be made available in September.
Deadlines for the School Based Assessment (SBA) component have also been extended.
CXC, will, however, still conduct its 100 per cent moderation of school-based assessments.
