With preparation ongoing for the 2022 general election, the Parliamentary Elections Office (PEO) makes the current list of electors as at 17th May, 2022, available for inspection.

Last week it did notify the public of its intention to have the list available for public scrutiny today and it did make good on its promises.

REPORT:

In our investigation we noticed that the current List of electors was published online, where everyone eligible to vote can inspect the List to ensure their name is properly included.

The Parliamentary Elections Office also says the list should be checked to establish whether there’s any name included in it that should not be there.

In a recent release, the PEO says there shall be a 7-day period for claims and objections regarding the List, from today, 30th May, to 7th June 2022.

All this, it says, is in accordance with applicable law, the Representation of The People’s Act, Chapter 286a.

Apart from online, the Parliamentary Elections Office says the list can be found in each Parliamentary Election Constituency Office and at post offices, police stations, medical stations and other public places.

Requests for alterations or corrections of any error in the name, address or polling division of any registered person should be submitted to the Registration Officer of the Constituency on/or before 7th June 2022. Sheena Phillip-Lynch, Wee FM News
