2021 is considered by the Grenada Cooperative Nutmeg Association (GCNA) as “the year of new grounds”.

That was outlined at the recently-held bi-annual Statutory General Meeting of the governing body for the Nutmeg Industry.

Farmers are reported to have turned out in their numbers airing their concerns about the affairs of the Industry

Agriculture Minister, Peter David, noted that technology will play a great part in the industry in the future, especially as it concerns determining the gender, whether a male or female nutmeg plant before cultivating.

GCNA Chairman, Leo Cato, said the success of the PCR initiative could be groundbreaking for the nutmeg industry.

Going forward, Cato said, the Association is hoping to increase production in authentic Grenadian Nutmeg.
