The ministry of Social Services this afternoon held consultation on the sex offender’s registry bill at the Grenada Youth Center.

The consultation was held to give participants the opportunity to discuss and provide feedback on the sex offender’s registry bill.

Today’s event was attended by the civil society and several stakeholders, where recommendations were made and will be reviewed before the bill is taken to parliament.

According to information coming to us forums were already held with the Grenada Bar Association and the Director of Public Prosecution the DPP.

Recommendations from these two were also accepted.

Late last month it was reported that the register will be under the control and custody of the Commissioner of Police, and is intended to be separated into 2 parts.

One portion will contain the relevant information on the sex offenders and the other portion the specific information available to the public.
