PR – Officers of the Drug Squad Unit seized one (1) .380 semi-automatic pistol, a magazine and three (3) rounds of ammunition; along with one hundred and thirty-nine pounds (139 lbs.) of Cannabis. These discoveries were made during police operations on Wednesday 7th and Friday 9th April, 2021, at Palmiste, St. John and Soubise St. Andrew. The Cannabis seized carries an estimated street value of three hundred and fifteen thousand, two hundred and fifty-two dollars ($315,252.00).
Micheal Raymond, 55 years, Farmer of Maran, St. John, Everton George, 40 years, Labourer of Mt. Nesbit, St. John and Steve Matthew, 22 years, unemployed resident of Gross Point, St. Mark, were arrested and charged in relation to the seizure at Palmiste, St. John.
They all appeared at the Gouyave Magistrate’s Court on April 9, 2021, and were granted bail. George and Matthew who were charged for Trafficking a Controlled Drug were placed on one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) bail with two sureties each, while Raymond who was charged for Possession of a Controlled Drug was placed on eighty thousand dollars ($80,000.00) bail with two sureties.
In relation to the seizure at Soubise, St. Andrew, two men, inclusive of a Vincentian National who entered the country illegally are in police custody assisting with investigations.
