An autopsy is pending to determine the cause of death of True Blue, St. George resident former assistant commissioner of police and director of health and public safety and security at the St. Georges University Maurice Darius.
Darius lost his life in an early morning residential fire.
According to reports from the police the fire emergency received a call around 4:48 this morning.
On arrival, one of the occupants of the house was found unresponsive in a room in the upper floor of the two-storey family home.
He was administered CPR and was transported to the General Hospital in St. George where he was pronounced dead.
According to the report one bedroom along with its roof area was completely destroyed.
No other residents were harmed.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
