Education officials here are said to be open to a partnership with the Caribbean coding academy that can prepare students and Grenadians, in general, to take advantage of emerging and current global technological trends.

During a visit to the academy yesterday education Minister Emmalin Pierre says they have started the conversation to ensure that young people will be ready for the job market.

The plan is to introduce coding and robotics into the primary and secondary schools.

Minister Pierre says her ministry will look at piloting an initiative in the school system in a formal way, so they are not left behind in the technological revolution that is taking place globally.

She added that the foundation has already been laid having introduced Information Technology (IT) in schools but they must move to a more responsive level.

One of the co-founders of the Caribbean Coding Academy Clifford Browne says the ministry of education will select a secondary school, after which the academy will introduce most of its courses.

He says their preference now is working with 4th and 5th form students.

Browne says a number of Grenadians are already benefiting from the training and international connections.
