The Ministry of Agriculture continues to intensify efforts to bolster measures aimed at preserving the soursop export trade to the United States.

On this accord, stakeholders in the Soursop Export Trade were yesterday engaged at the National Stadium in what’s been labeled an inception workshop.

It involved enhancing sanitary and (FIE-TOE-SANI-TREE) phytosanitary standards through capacity building and facilitating market access.

Grenada has launched the Standards and Trade Development Facility project in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Permanent Secretary, Isaac Bhagwan, delivering remarks at the workshop attended by various stakeholders emphasized the timeliness of the initiative.

Food and Agriculture Organisation Sub-regional Coordinator, Dr. Renata Clarke, explained that the Standards and Trade Development Facility project allows Agricultural sector transformation, particularly with the soursop industry.

It’s all aimed at supporting activities to protect the soursop trade and the livelihoods of soursop farmers and exporters.
