PR – The Rural Development Unit (RDU) is launching a targeted training series to boost the financial and legal capacity of rural agribusiness owners in St. Patrick. While working closely with local farmers and fishers, the RDU identified that while rural producers thrive in output, many face significant barriers in managing business finances. This new initiative builds upon the success of the Climate Smart Agriculture and Rural Enterprise Programme (SAEP), which previously delivered 12 financial management sessions across Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique. A 2025 impact assessment revealed that 89% of past participants actively use the tools they learned, with many requesting advanced training.
In response to this demand, the RDU expanded its capacity-building efforts in early 2026, training thirty-six (36) United Kingdom Caribbean Infrastructure Fund (UKCIF) beneficiaries at Concord Weir. This upcoming St. Patrick series marks the next phase of the RDU Sub-Office outreach goals, targeting seventy (70) local agribusiness operators.
The upcoming training sessions will take place from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the following locations:
- Tuesday, July 28, 2026: St. Patrick’s Anglican School, Sauteurs, St. Patrick • Thursday, July 30, 2026: The Pavilion, Plains, St. Patrick

- Tax Management & Statutory Compliance
- Business Registration & Accessing Legal Aid
- Developing a Strategic Financial Mindset
The primary objective of this group extension activity is to empower beneficiaries to improve their livelihoods using practical, actionable financial and legal skills. By the end of the sessions, participants will be equipped to perform unit cost calculations, differentiate between bookkeeping and accounting, track income and expenditures accurately, and access formal legal support for their business operations.
