Fifty-four days into the New Year and the fire department of the Royal Grenada Police Force has so far attended to some 44 fires overall, sparking concern,

It’s reported that 16 incidents are related to dwelling house fires, one business enterprise, 11 bush fires, 10 rubbish fires and one that has not been classified.

The fire department says there have been five false calls.

The fire department, in conjunction with the national disaster management agency NADMA yesterday held a programme on WEE Fm radio, speaking about the dangers as it relates to fires in general.

Corporal Thomas of the fire department of the RGPF says individuals have become complacent when it comes to securing their homes.

Corporal Thomas is making an appeal for persons to do periodic checks on electrical wiring of their homes from time-to-time to ensure all is well.

Corporal Thomas provides tips as to how individuals can go about lending assistance in cases where there are fires.
