Grenada records its first house fire for 2022.
Three days into the New Year and the island has recorded a House fire in the Point area in St. George’s.
Information as to how the fire started appears sketchy.
When we visited the scene, the owner brought us up-to-date that the fire started when he lit a cigarette and didn’t realize the match was not extinguished when he disposed of it.
The match he said, apparently fell onto a nearby mattress, and later realized that it caught ablaze.
He said he tried outing the fire but water level was low and that created a problem.
It’s believed that individual who’s in his late 50’s, was apparently under the influence of alcohol and accidentally threw the match onto his mattress.
When the fire got raging, we understand the Royal Grenada Police Force was called to the scene to lend assistance.
