A message sent out by a group, Friends of the Mentally ill (FOMI), praises the many individuals associated with staff at the Mt. Gay Mental Hospital, Community Mental Health Workers, Faith-based institutions, members of the Royal Grenada Police Force and members of the public as to support for the mentally ill.
FOMI showered praise on the associated groups for the way they accept the diversity of the human being, and address those burdened by the illness kindly and lovingly.
The FOMI message refers to the love and understanding in assisting and making life memorable for the patients.
The Friends of the Mentally ill is also thanking employers who employ him or her when the odds are stacked against the individual.
It implores members of the society, young and old, to reach out to those who are primarily mentally ill, with psychosis or depression and secondarily so because of chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, and cancers, as well as those who maybe entertaining thoughts of suicide.
In its words, FOMI says “Please reach out, lend a helping hand as well as offer a listening ear and make a difference in this New Year.”
