Writing on behalf of Prime Minister, Dr. the Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell, Attorney-at-Law, Nigel Stewart, has notified the Grenada Broadcasting Network (GBN) about an unqualified statement in one of its newscasts last month, purportedly untrue.

The news items relates to an alleged illegal occupancy of a property in the Beausejour area, where a comment was made implicating the Prime Minister in the scheme of things.

Stewart noted that the statement made is completely untrue and constitutes a dire slander upon his client.

He noted that the statement which was aired on GBN television, also found its way on various social media platforms.

Stewart says the said statement has caused his client grave concern and embarrassment and has the potential to affect his political and personal life, and, brings his reputation into question.

In view of this a call is being made for the immediate retraction of the news report and an apology in terms to be approved by him on his client’s behalf.

The lawyer argues that no attempts were made to contact the Prime Minister or his Office so as to verify the statements.

Failure to meet the demands, GBN is threatened with legal action.
