GFNC Expanding The Food Bank Initiative Through Support From FAO & MOA

0

The Grenada Food and Nutrition Council (GFNC), through support from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Ministry of Agriculture, is in the process of strengthening its Food Bank Initiative.

The project which is expected to serve some 130 families, is instrumental towards the establishment of the National Parliamentary Front against Hunger Secretariat.

Under the project, the FAO is working with the GFNC to develop a strategic action plan that will allow for the Food Bank’s expansion.

It’s an initiative that supports vulnerable families monthly with nutritious, locally-produced foods as a means of promoting healthy eating habits.

The initiative is also expected to contribute to economic activity by supporting local farmers and producers, while, at the same time, improving the appreciation for local food and their nutritional benefits.
